Booth Decorator’s League XC – Race 4

 

The Booth Decorator League Race 4  will be hosted by Long Eaton Running Club at Trent Meadows, Long Eaton on Sunday January 16th at 11-00am.  This is a brand new venue for us and the first race hosted by LERC.  (See attached map for location).
  

 

 

Having made a reasonable start to the season in October and November, the Harriers’ combined team scores from the first two races leave us only 4th in the league standings so far. (Men – 4th, Ladies – 5th, Combined team – 4th). However, with a big five point gap between us and 3rd placed Long Eaton, moving up into a podium position is going to take a concerted effort over the remaining two races. The men’s team though – although fourth in the standings – are equal on points with the 2nd and 3rd placed clubs and could climb the table to hold the runners-up spot after next week’s race!  

 

As usual, we hope to have a large team of Harriers out on Sunday, as well as fielding as many of our top runners as possible.So, please support the club if you are fit and available. In particular, we really need more ladies to turn out for us this time around.

  

 

AS THIS VENUE IS A FAIR DISTANCE AWAY (ABOUT 30- 40 MINUTES) PLEASE MEET AT BELPER LEISURE CENTRE CAR PARK AT 9-45AM TO SHARE TRANSPORT TO THE VENUE.  

 

  

 

Directions to Trent Meadows are as follows…
1) Take the A38/A61 to Derby and turn on to the A52 (to Nottingham) at the Pentagon Island. Follow the A52 and take the slip road for the M1 junction 25 at Sandiacre.

2) Take the 3rd exit of the roundabout into Bostocks Lane (before the MI South turn). Carry straight on to T Junction.
3) At the junction turn right into Longmoor Road. Follow the road round to the large roundabout.
4) Turn left into Derby Road. Go straight on to the 2nd roundabout.
5) Turn right into Waverly St (Tesco is on your left).
6) Follow the road (as marked in green on the attached map) until you reach the venue.
 
  
 

 

Race information for those who have joined us since last winter…

  • The first 7 men and the first 3 ladies will count towards the team score. However, every other runner has an important role to play in contributing to our team position – by pushing scoring runners from competitor clubs down the finishing order.
  • All runners must wear club vests for league races. Anyone without can purchase one from me on the day. If for any reason you do end up having to run without a vest, please do not run through the finish funnel at the end of the race – as the rules allow for team disqualification if this happens.  
  • There are no individual entry fees payable to run in league races. (The fees are paid by the club). 
  • 2 Club Grand Prix bonus points will be awarded to runners in all league races, and 1 point to supporters. These are then doubled for those attending all five races in 2010 – making a maximum of 20 points up for grabs. (Race 1 and 2 were in Jan. and Feb 2010 and races 3, 4 and 5 are from October until December).  

Note that the Bramcote XC, postponed in December, has been re-arranged for the 30th January. Race 5, scheduled for Berry Hill, has been cancelled (due to difficulties with the landowners).
