As Christmas and New Years Day both fall on a Tuesday this year, the club will not be meeting again on a Tuesday evening until January 8th.
As this seems to be a long time without a group training session, we have arranged three training runs over the Christmas Period which are open to all our members and any friends.
The first will be this Thursday December 20th at Whitemoor Day Centre for an hour’s running. The start will be 6.30 and is an ideal opportunity to get a decent run in before Christmas.
The second is on Sunday morning December 30th at 10am from the Belper Leisure Centre Car Park. This could give us the opportunity for off-road running if the conditions are favourable. Once again an hours running and everyone welcome.
The third session will be the Thursday into the New Year January 3rd and once again at 6.30 from the Whitemoor Day Centre.
We have had notification regarding the National Cross-Country Championships at Sunderland on the 23rd February. Entries for this event have to go through the club and must be received by the 2nd January. So if you are interested in running in this event contact Rob Pearce on firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Regional Event will be on January 26th and this year we have decided to run in the Midland Counties at Stafford Common rather than participate in the Northern event which is further to travel. Once again entries have to go through the club.
Another year has nearly gone and Belper Harriers keeps progressing both in numbers, events and competitions. We have just past twenty-one years last November since the club was founded and although we never celebrated the anniversary, I am sure that in less than four years time we will have a big bash to celebrate the twenty-five year mark.
If you are a lapsed or former member of the club why not make the effort to get down to the Leisure Centre on a Tuesday evening in the New Year.
So to all our members, the running fraternity, the many followers of the club and all your families have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.
