River Relays / BDL Carsington

Derwent River Relays

The seventh year of this event took place once again down at Belper Rugby Club on an ideal day for both running and watching. The number of teams were down on previous years but what was lost on quantity was gained on quality with some outstanding performances. Heanor’s first team were the overall winners with a team from the Harriers of Alan Billington, Jack Dakin, Tom Jackson and Sean Ollier in second place. Well done fellows a pleasing result both for yourselves and the club.

The club would not be able to promote an event like this without the hard work of the members who worked exceedingly hard throughout the day and prior to the event. Thanks also to Morrisons, Babington Hospital for the use of the car park, Richard Fletcher from Air Ambulance and once again Belper Rugby Club for the use of the facilities.

BDL Race

Next Tuesday July 9th will be the fourth race in the summer series at Carsington Water. After the good result at Denby, the club would like to even better the performance in this race. Once again the start is 7.30 adjacent to the Millfields car park over a five mile out and back route. There were 34 Harriers in the race at Denby and we were hosting the race with a number of Harriers involved officiating. So lets have a good turnout particularly as good weather has been forecast which does not usually happen at Carsington.

If anyone has a spare running vest could they bring it along as the spare stock is running low and hopefully we should have a new runner or two.

The following week July 16th will be another Special, information on the website later.
