This Sunday the 1st December sees the third race in the BDL Cross-country League at Trent Meadows Long Eaton starting at 11am. The club is in a healthy position in the league club standings and a good turnout of runners on Sunday morning would go a long way to consolidating that or even improving the positions. So if you are free on Sunday morning, come along to Long Eaton for a run and help the team. We will be meeting at the Leisure Centre at 9.40 for anyone wanting a lift or to car share.
This Thursday evening November 28th we will be meeting at the Whitemoor Day Centre on John O’Gaunts Way 6.30. The following Tuesday evening we will be at the Leisure Centre for training starting at 7.30.
Two local races took place last Sunday morning, the Clowne Half Marathon and the Matthew Walker 10k Pudding Run. Both races have been going now for a considerable number of years and are very well supported.
At Clowne Rob Pearce and Richard Mayne were out wearing the club vest with Rob returning a time of 1hr 43mins while newcomer to the club Richard finished in 1hr 48mins.
There were nearly 900 finishers in Shipley Park for the Pudding Run and among those from the club were Andy MacAlistar, Jason Fores, Geoff Stone, Tom Rowland, Georgina Bestwick, Jo Southcott and Anne Downes.
Well done to all the Harriers who ran in these two races.
Derbyshire Cross-country Championships
This event is on Saturday January 4th at Shipley Park hosted by Heanor Running Club. It is a combined event with Nottinghamshire and there are races for all age groups. The closing date for entries is Friday December 6th so there is not a lot of time. Forms can be accessed from the Derbyshire Athletics site http://www.derbyshireathletics.org.uk.
I have now received a new supply of Belper Harriers running vests. These are on sale at £20 if anyone wishes to buy one.
Many of you will have received a survey by email. So if you could spend a couple of minutes filling it in, it will go a long way to helping to find out what members want from the club. If you have not received that email, Clare Cooper will have some hard copies to fill in at training next Tuesday evening.
