10k Handicap this Tuesday

10k Handicap
This Tuesday evening December 10th is the 10k Handicap at 7.30 on a new course. Starting at Morrisons island, the route goes down the A6, turning right on to Goods Road, down to the island at the furtherst point. Round the island and back on to the A6 down to Milford and continuing on to the outskirts of Duffield. The turning point is opposite Station Approach and back up the A6 to Belper, taking in the Goods Road Loop before finishing where you started.

The weather forecast is good for Tuesday evening so come down and have a run and see what you think of the new route. The course is mostly flat with just an incline on Goods Road and there is pavement all along the A6 and well lit along all of the route.

I will need a couple of helpers on the evening as marshals and with the timekeeping. So if anyone who is recovering from injury or not fit to run just let me know.

There is plenty of places for car parking around the area although it could be busy around the Morrisons store.

North Midlands Cross-country League
The third race in this series took place last Saturday at Shipley Park Heanor. Only two members from the club ran, Jack Dakin and Simon Edwards in the Senior Men’s race.
Over a 9.5k distance, Jack recorded 38mins 7secs to come home in 60th place while Simon finished in 43mins 3secs to finish in 126th position. Well done to both Jack and Simon.

Training
This Thursday again we will be down at Goods Road while the following Thursday December 19th we have the track at Ilkeston.

On Tuesday December 17th we will have our Pub Run and a normal steady run for those who do not wish to do the Pub Run, at the usual time of 7.30pm.

We will miss two weeks of club training over the festive period, re-starting again on Tuesday January 7th.

There are a number of local races over this period, notably David Denton’s races which can be seen on www.runningwithdavid.com.
