Great Performance at Carsington
It was once again a good team performance from our runners at Carsington for the fourth BDL race of the summer league season. The field of 247 runners had a dry course of approximately five miles to run producing once again a tremendous race.
The team of twenty-six Harriers did the club proud by finishing second in all three competitions, the men’s, ladies and the team race.
Our first finisher was nineteen years old Ben Rhodes who finished fifth, improving by three places from his previous BDL race at Denby. Following Ben was Shaun Bott making his first appearance in the summer races finishing eleventh. The other male Harriers were Alan Billington, Krishna Mahadevan, Dave Horton, Trevor Wilson, Chris Jordan who made his BDL debut in the previous race at Denby, Simon Edwards, Mark Riches, Sean Ollier, Amer Armoush, Simon Hackett, Rob Pearce, Andy Nash, James Budzymki, John Maddock, Rob Terry, Martin Collins and Chris Jackson.
A special well done to our first lady home, Charlotte Dye who had an excellent run to finish 43rd. Charlotte was followed by Theresa Hempsall, Jane Armoush, Rosemary Arris, Rachel Clark, Meg McHarg and Linda Simmonds.
Well done to all who ran with many runners producing some excellent performances resulting in a great team performance.
This result has pushed the club up in the league table and after four races the Harriers stand second in the men’s table, fourth in the ladies and third in the team competition. So with just the race from Shipley Cricket Club to come on Tuesday August 5th we are in with a good chance once again of silverware.
Training next Tuesday 15th is from Belper Leisure Centre meet at 7.15pm. This is a good time of the year to introduce anyone who would be interested in doing a bit of running to come along to our Tuesday evening sessions.
The Thursday evening sessions are at the moment all on the grass track behind the school and Leisure Centre, meet at 6.30 for a one hour session.
