Cross-Country and Track Dates

Cross-Country and Track Dates
The summer is gradually coming to a close and the dark nights are drawing in, so it looks like we will have to start thinking about the winter training.

Looking back over the six Summer Specials. They once again proved to be successful with a number of members orgainising a Special for the first time. Thanks to all who organised or who led a route and to Geoff Stone for co-ordinating the Specials.

Back to this autumn and the Tuesday evening training. As the Winter Specials went down well last winter, this autumn/winter we will give them another go. Likewise for the Handicaps which will have to be reduced to a 5 mile Training Handicap, due to the lack of any lightening near to the turn-around of the longer route. We have tried other alternatives but for safety reasons, car parking and a relatively flat course, the shortened 10k route is the best option. If anyone has any other ideas I would be pleased to hear.

The dates for the BDL Cross-country league which all start at 11.00am with a new venue at Bakewell are:

12-10-2014 Shipley Park Visitors Centre Heanor.
9-11-2014 Chaddesden Park Derby.
30-11-2014 Bakewell Show Ground.
11-1-2015 Trent Meadows Long Eaton.
8-2-2015 Holmebrook Park Chesterfield.

The North Midlands Cross-country League also starts on the same weekend as the BDL races with three of their races on the Saturday before a Sunday BDL races.

11-10-2014 Markeaton Park Derby.
8-11-2014 Wicksteed Park Kettering.
6-12-2014 Shipley Park Heanor.
10-1-2015 Wollaton Park Nottingham.

Track Sessions
We have four sessions at Ilkeston Track booked on Thursday evenings for the next four months. These will be for an hour from 7pm and will cost £1.50 per session with changing and showers available if required.

18th September, 9th October, 6th November and 4th December.

  1. Hi Malc,

I am interested in taking part in all of these races if I can make it, with regards to the Wicksteed Park race in Kettering will there be a bus set on to ferry the troops there and back?

    Thanks 🙂
