The Weeks Sunday Run – 11 + ish miles

Morning all ,

John and I will be doing our long sunday run , averaging about 10 min/mile, plan to go a little longer this weekend so we will park up close to Ambergate Chippy then along the A6 and up onto the canal tow path to cromford then return , this regular route will need to change after next weekend as the tow path is closed from November 3rd until Dec 24th 😦
Start from Ambergate Chippy at approx. 8am – you will have had an hour lie in as the clocks change , I will be driving from Belper if anyone wants a lift let me know 07717175482

  1. Hi.
I am interested in joining a running club & a couple of friends recommended Belper Harriers.
Could you please give me some info eg when you meet, group ability levels & costs etc.
I am fairly new to running. Did this years Derby 10k in 1hr 19 min and Race for Life but not kept in regular training recently so would probably need to start in a novice group. Would really appreciate any info. Thanks.

  2. Hi Amanda ,

You are more than welcome to come and give us a go , we usually meet on Tuesday nights at 7.15 in the sports centre reception and leave at 7.30 for a run locally , there are usually either 3 or 4 groups depending on the numbers , the groups are split up into different paces ands the 1st group will often run longer distances , as for cost we always say to come and try us out for a few weeks and see if you want to join and then sign up , the annual cost is £15 with the year being spring to spring so if you join at this time of year the cost is £10 which covers your England Athletics Fee , we also do a speed / hill work session on a Thursday night the venue for this changes but at the moment it is along the road behind the sports centre close top the community centre and starts at 6.30 , if you have any more questions email me at clare@amiesplatcis.co.uk or just come down on a Tuesday night ( we sometimes run elsewhere on a tues with either a handicap run along the A6 or a pub special somewhere so always best to check when you decide you are going to come down.
