Please see text below from Matlock regarding tomorrow’s race and note the important points especially about paying for parking:
As advised at the last league meeting we’re going to run in the reverse direction and see what sort of feedback we get. The course is the usual Bakewell combination of waterlogged sections and very long grass. I suggest all runners should opt for fell shoes or long length XC spikes, and can you advise your club members to exercise caution on the downhill stretch prior to the ‘water feature’. The good news is this popular section has been sanitised and you can now see the bottom – the bad news is there’s no alternative route around it this year.
Car parking is at the Bakewell Agricultural Centre pay and display car park adjacent to the Showground, accessed off the A6 as you approach Bakewell if travelling in a westerly direction from Matlock. Toilets are situated at the rear of the centre or next to Boots the chemist just over the river footbridge in Bakewell town centre. The Farmers Feast Cafe will be open too serving hot food and drinks from 9.30am.
I will be collecting the finishing discs and club lists from Don Peckitt in the morning, but can I ask all clubs to print off their own runners list from the last version Don sent out in case of any problems. Also can all clubs remind their runners to ensure they collect a disc at the finish of the race and not leave the funnel without one. And a final polite request is for all clubs to ask their runners to respect the volunteers and Marshals, this is the first race I’m aware of in which the host club will be totally responsible for timekeeping/results/disc allocation etc so please bear this in mind. I’ve no doubts though we will all enjoy another successful BDL race on little toughie of a course.
