Five races in four days, the summer racing season seems to be in full swing!
Starting off a busy few days, was the Sheldon Fell Race on Thursday 19th July. 5 Harriers took part, but two were especially speedy! Louise Rowley was first FV40, & Simon Fisher came 10th overall. Andy Stubbs, Ruth Keeley & Ashley Flint also did a splendid job of representing the club and some of them even wore their club vests!
On the evening of Friday 20th July, the annual Tara Kindle Memorial 10k took place. The description of the race is simply ‘it’s flat, it’s fast, it’s friendly, it’s old school 10K running at its best.’ Two of those definitely seem to be correct judging by results of the club members who ran the race this week. All very swift times!
David Heslop ran 36:30 (a pb!) to claim 2nd MV40 (only 4 seconds off winning his category), and he also finished in the top 10 overall. Andrew Marsden finished in 39:49 followed by Dave Horton in 40:36 and Darren Singleton who ran 42:42. A great effort from all of you, well done!
The last two races were on Sunday. Robert Norman represented the club at the The Hardwick Hall 10k in Pilsley at finishing in 46:32.
Also on Sunday, Josie Lockwood ran the Conti Thunder run which is a 24 hour relay race consisting multiple 10K laps. The organisers describe the event as ‘where running is tested against the clock, putting your tactics, endurance, speed & teamwork to the ultimate test.’ Clearly not a race for the faint hearted! Josie completed 3 laps of the course which was a super effort!
Well done to all on another week of racing. A great effort in the heat!
